Dr. Orly Taitz Esquire, trainwreck.

Remember Dr. Orly Taitz Esquire, attorney/dentist/real estate agent, and unofficial spokesperson of the Birther movement? The one who keeps suing Obama by proxy? I was doing some reading and research on her today, and I thought I'd share some of the interesting things I came across. If you like to see bad people lose, this should make your day.

Before we get serious, let's take a brief timeout for some mean-spirited analysis of Mrs. Taitz' resume.

Orly Taitz is famous for presenting herself as an attorney, dentist, and real estate agent. We'll examine the credentials behind these claims one-by-one, ignoring for now the inherent ridiculousness of styling yourself as a dentist and real estate agent during an interview about your lawsuit against the President of the United States.

First, the attorney claim: By now we all know that the non-ABA accredited William Howard Taft University offers their JD by correspondence only, so Orly Taitz never actually went to law school. She earned her "degree" through what is essentially a 4-year bar prep program. This is evident when you witness her rambling, incoherent arguments, complete inability to adhere to procedure in even the most basic of filings, and general lack of respect for the profession. The woman seems to use the courtroom as a soapbox for her political views and not much else. Well, except for when she's getting sued, but we'll get to that in a moment.

As a graduate of a non-ABA accredited school, Mrs. Taitz may only practice law in California (and possibly one or two other states with similarly lax requirements, if she were to pass that state's bar). Yes, she passed the California bar and that's great - I mean, just thinking about taking the bar makes me wet myself a little- but after 4 years of bar prep, I'd hope she was up to the task.

This would be an opportune time to show you some of the absolutely spectacular missteps Orly has made in court, but I'll save them for my next post, where we discuss -in great detail- her errors in logic, argumentation, filing procedures, and even envelope addressing. It's good stuff and well worth the wait!

Second, her dentistry practice: Orly Taitz obtained her education in this field from Hebrew University in Israel. On the one hand, I would like to think that standards of education in Israel are rather high; on the other, people might say the same thing about the United States, and yet we're the home of William Howard Taft University. I'm gonna go ahead and let the credentials issue slide in this case because, as they say, the proof is in the pudding.

...And what delicious pudding it is. I plugged the last name "Taitz" into the Orange County Superior Courts website today and it returned 34 results. Among them was an assault and battery case in which her husband, Yosef Taitz, was the defendant, and about a dozen medical malpractice and breach of contract cases against Orly and her practice.

It appears that most of these were dismissed (I don't have any way to find out exactly what type of agreement was reached), but the fact that Orly Taitz finds herself in court more frequently as a defendant than as an attorney is telling.



My hunch here is that Orly's primary motivation for becoming an attorney was so she could defend herself from the inevitable lawsuits that would arise from entrusting a crazy person with sharp objects.

UPDATE: A quick check with the Dental Board of California revealed that Orly's license is current and that there are no disciplinary records on file for her. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence, but I guess I can't say she's been sanctioned for any of her oral hygiene hijinx. Yet.

You know, I read a study once that showed a strong correlation between malpractice suits and bedside manner; douchey doctors get sued for malpractice more often.

This is easy to avoid, of course. To borrow a well-worn phrase, the rule of thumb when it comes to preventing malpractice is "communicate or litigate."

Though I can't imagine how anyone would have a tough time communicating with Dr. Taitz.





Third, the real estate agent claim: Mrs. Taitz was on TV calling herself a real estate agent this July, but at that point her real estate broker's license had been expired for 17 months. It is, as of today, still expired.



What I like about this is that it's 1) an outright lie and 2) of the kind that anyone with an internet connection can easily expose.

I think it says a lot about Mrs. Taitz' integrity, obviously, but doesn't it really say more about her sanity?

I mean: you're going on CNN to discuss your lawsuit against the President, wherein you accuse him of misrepresenting himself as an American citizen via forged birth certificate... and you decide to lie about your credentials? Credentials that are completely irrelevant to the matter you've been invited to discuss?

This doesn't exactly sound like the mind of a cunning strategist at work. I'm sure Obama and his CommuNazi comrades are trembling at the thought of facing this legal mastermind in a courtroom.



Oh... one more thing: It is generally accepted that, while dentists are allowed to call themselves doctors in social situations, they should not refer to themselves professionally as "Dr." unless they do so in a way that makes plain that they are a dentist, dental surgeon, etc.

Further, the title "Esquire" is not -ever- to be used in conjunction with the prenominal title of "Dr.", so her self-styled label of "Dr. Orly Taitz Esquire" is just completely, utterly, totally wrong.

Okay, now that we've established that Orly Taitz is not to be taken seriously under any circumstances, we're ready to discuss the really good part: the $10,000 fine she's facing, the hilarious pimpslap via judicial opinion she received from Judge Land, her possible disbarment, and guaranteed humilation, all of which will be featured in my next post.
